Urban Cove Gallery, Metamorphosis

Urban Cove Gallery, Metamorphosis

Project Description

The main idea is to create a gallery that combines two architectural styles modern buildings and vernacular architecture. This concept was developed out of concern that vernacular architecture is increasingly being forgotten due to the rapid pace of urban development. Current buildings tend to focus more on minimalism and modernism, which may contribute to the fading presence of traditional styles. By integrating these two architectural forms into a single building, the concept of 'metamorphosis' is introduced, symbolizing the fusion of two distinct styles into one building. The goal is to preserve the sentimental value of vernacular architecture while still adapting to contemporary architectural trends. Additionally, an open plaza is placed at the center of the building, designed to connect directly to the main road, pedestrian walkway, shop lots, and a nearby mall. Its purpose is to act as a welcoming area for visitors coming to the gallery. To ensure the plaza remains cool and comfortable, a roof inspired by traditional forms which can be opened and closed by e specific mechanism is installed. The plaza is also designed as a double-volume space to promote smooth air circulation throughout the area.
